Dad’s Day: 21 Ways to Show Your Special Guy Some Love

Dad’s Day is June 21st. To the dads, new dads, grandpops, soon-to-be-dads, dog dads, and plant dads—you deserve the world. We love your corny jokes and the fact that you’re always there when it matters the most. Whether you’re celebrating at home or setting up a virtual get-together, we’ve got you covered with 21 ways to love dad up on his special day.

1. Crafter-Noon

Have a crafter-noon working through some DIY projects. Pick a few favorites ahead of time to make sure you have everything you need! If you’re working together virtually, send a surprise full of all the materials he’ll need for your crafting day.

2. Go Golfing

Does dad practically live on the green? Take him golfing! This socially-distant activity is perfect for celebrating Dad’s Day. Enjoy one-on-one bonding time or turn it into a family event. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

3. Work of Art

If you have little ones that would love to craft something for dad, print out this coloring page. You can even color one yourself! Take it one step further and frame it for him to hang somewhere special.

4. Class It Up

There are so many online classes you can take together. Take an Airbnb Experience, do a self-guided brewing class, or even try out a virtual workout. You can always surprise him with a Men’s Active Edit full of performance pieces perfect for his fitness routine.

5. Memory Lane

If you live close enough, drive over to their house and stick hearts and family pics to the windows. Not able to decorate in person? Create a digital slideshow with all of your favorite photos. Add some music and live clips from family and it’s a guaranteed winner.

6. Wantable Gift Card

Even if you can’t be there in person, you can still send the virtual gift with a personal touch: a Wantable Gift Card. Starting at $25, you can load up a gift card with credits that he can put towards his Wantable personal styling experience.

7. Grill Out

An afternoon spent grilling is an afternoon well-spent. If dad is normally the grill master, take over for the day and let him kick-back and relax. Hey, you learned from the best!

8. Start Your Own Book Club

Book clubs provide an opportunity to connect and bond. Plus, it reduces stress—and that sounds pretty amazing with everything going on. Not to mention, snacks and beverages are a no-brainer. Get started here.

9. Hit Up the Bar (Cart)

The dads in your life are probably missing family and friends especially if they can’t spend this special day together. Surprise him with a virtual get-together with his closest friends or get the entire family on a video call.

10. Snail Mail

Technology is amazing for keeping us all connected especially during times like these, but there is something so special about old school mail. Send a handwritten letter, write him a poem (or share the one below!), or create a list of your favorite things about him. The delight of discovering something in the mail is bound to make his day.

11. Movie Night

Stream his favorite movie together. If you live close enough, set up an at-home movie theatre (either indoor or outdoor) with popcorn and his go-to movie snacks. If you don’t live close enough, set up a video call and press play at the same time.

12. Picnic

Warmer weather and a bit of sunshine calls for a picnic. Fill up a basket with cheese, crackers, fruit, and blankets and enjoy a socially distant picnic. Even if you aren’t able to go to a park, host your picnic in your backyard or patio.

13. Game On

Host a game night with family or friends—or both! If you’re unable to be there in person and need a few ideas on which games are perfect for virtual game night, click here. It might surprise you how many there are!

14. Beer Tasting

There are plenty of beer making kits that you can send, but if you know his favorite beers, drop them ahead of time and organize your very own beer tasting. Set up a flight and discuss what you like or didn’t like about each one.

15. Ride a Bike

If you have a super active dad, grab your bikes and hit the trails. You can make it an all-day activity by making stops along the way and enjoying all that nature has to offer.

16. Take a Hike

For those on the adventurous side, go to a national park—they’re just one click away. It’s a super fun way to “get outside” and see different parts of the world. Do a little research ahead of time and give a self-guided tour as you explore.

17. Try Your Hand at Trivia

Host a virtual trivia night. You can either center it around his favorite show or topic (Friends trivia, anyone?) or write your very own trivia questions about him for guests to answer. If you want to add a competitive edge, throw in a playful prize for the person who gets the most correct answers.

18. Virtual Vacay

Iconic landmarks, museums, and zoos around the world are offering virtual tours. While many have had to postpone vacations, these virtual tours are a great opportunity to take him to somewhere on his bucket list. Plan out a day of sightseeing by sending him a map of the destination along with themed gifts for him to enjoy.

19. Take Him Out to a Ballgame

Even though sporting events are on pause, you can still recreate the fun all from the comfort of home. Set up a tailgate in your driveway, play classic yard games, or even set up teams for a few innings of t-ball.

20. Pop-Up Parade

Pop-up parades have been happening like crazy to surprise people for birthdays, anniversaries, and all kinds of celebrations. This holiday lends the perfect time to craft some signs and place them in your car windows. Once your cars are all decked out, drive by his house, honk, wave, and send your love.

21. Karaoke Night

Put on your own concert and host a karaoke night. YouTube offers up countless karaoke options for you to choose from. Set up a video call and share your screen so that everyone can see the lyrics and belt out some tunes.

An Ode to All Dadkind

To dad, new dad,
grandpop, daddy-to-be,
dog dad, plant dad and
“he’s-like-a-father-to-me!”

We see you. We love you.
Thanks for being so great.
You’re our rock, our anchor
– our hero, sans cape!

Your attention span is short.
And your jokes are sooo bad!
But you’re the best of Dadkind
and that makes us feel glad.

Hope your Dad’s Day
is with those you adore.
Or with big, virtual hugs
and gifts at your door.

These are tough times
that much is true.
But we are grateful
for the strength that is you.

Happy Dad’s Day
From everyone at Wantable
