The Secret to BIG Money and BIG Style

Image

>> WATCH NOW <<

Money is a very sensitive subject for a lot of people – especially right now.

There is no doubt that what is happening with the coronavirus is impacting the economy.

Stores are closed, restaurants are takeout only… essentially the globe is closed for business. During this pandemic I’ve seen both sides of the coin:

1.) People who are scared, stunned, and unclear on what the future holds for them financially.

2.) People who are CRUSHING IT right now despite the economy.

In fact, during my monthly mastermind call, one of my fellow boss babes had a record-breaking month, and another just sold a $24,000 coaching package!

Two groups of people living in the same world, but both are experiencing completely different realities. How does that happen?

You’re probably thinking it all boils down to luck, but the truth is it all comes down to this:

Alignment and mindset.

When your mind is sharp, and the default’s set to positivity and success, you cannot lose. Your mind is trained to make quick pivots and to come up with solutions that will ensure you weather-the-storm.

That is why I’m encouraging you to use this time to level up!

Get dressed, read, journal, work on yourself, and get your mind right.

Since so many people are sweating when it comes to money, I’ve decided to devote the entire month of April to ‘Money Mindset’ inside Style Confidence Collective.

Here is a little preview of what’s to come inside Style Confidence Collective:

Book Club: We’re reading my FAVORITE book about money mindset
It’s the first book I read on the topic, and since discovering it, I’ve read it five times!

Growth: Breaking & Building Money Habits
Let’s break some bad habits around spending money, saving money, and thinking about money with this month’s growth challenge.

Workshop + Guide: Wardrobe Budgeting
I created a next-level guide to help you budget for your wardrobe shopping – this ain’t your mama’s budgeting techniques.

Shopping Guide By Income
Dive into this month’s shopping guide (curated by me), which is broken down by budget.

Monthly Q&A
Ask me anything about anything 🙂

AND since last week’s Zoom styling party was such a hit, I’m doing four more in April:

April 7th: Decorate Your Denim
April 14th: Styling Scarves
April 21st: Stacking Those Bracelets
April 28th: Styling With Belts

It’s going to be a great month. If you’re already a member, I’ll see you inside. If you aren’t, you can click here to watch a little preview of what’s to come, and if you’re feeling inspired, join our rockin’ little community.

The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 3}

I’m having a very interesting reaction to what’s happening in the world right now. And I fully believe it’s testament to the personal development work I’ve done over the past ten years because:

I feel fired up, positive, and hopeful. Yes, even amongst the chaos, I’m like lets LEVEL UP!

Image

Level up on as individuals and as a collective global unit.

We have choices, people:

1.) Panic, freakout, and let the fear and uncertainly consume us.

Or …

2.) Grab hold of the things we can control and make the most out of a $*%t situation.

One thing we CAN control is what we wear. HELLO … that’s an easy one!

Getting dressed with intention (aka not throwing on yesterdays sweats) is proven to positively impact your mood.

So even if you’re sitting home eating Twinkies (because you’re on a government-mandated lockdown), let’s get dressed and finish what we started!

Ya know, The Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series that we’re smack-dab in the middle of.

Uh-huh. We’re still doing that, and today is dedicated to Step 3: Putting Some Skin In The Game.

Image>> WATCH NOW <<

I’m about to talk about money, so prepare yourselves.

We put a lot of meaning into money, and for many, the idea of wasting it is the worst thing ever. As a result, we become stingy are afraid to spend money when the outcome is unclear.

For example, it’s easy to spend money on something like food. You can see the food and eat the food, so in your eyes, no money “wasted.”

However, when it comes to something that is going to improve your life like coaching, an online program, a vacation … it becomes much harder. What if I don’t get a return on my investment? What if that money is wasted?

I’m going to speak from personal experience (as I always do); the more I spend to improve myself, the better results I see.

And this is NOT because more expensive = better.

It means I had some serious skin in the game, and I wanted to make sure that investment wasn’t a waste.

So this week for Step 3, I want YOU to put some skin in the game to ensure your Level Up experience sticks.

I’ll go through all of the details inside today’s video (no, I’m not going to ask you to spend a million dollars), and I have an interesting study to share that proves I’m not blowing smoke up your booty.

Sew Good to Give Back

In what feels like a blink of an eye, the world around us, our daily routines, and our sense of normalcy have drastically changed. However, even in the face of adversity, kind hearts all over the globe have united to assist those in need—and it’s truly inspiring. Like you, we want to help those on the medical frontlines who are running out of supplies caring for patients suffering from the COVID-19 (coronavirus). That’s why we’re hustling to turn our fulfillment center into a hub to create and distribute face masks.

What started out as an early morning phone call led to all hands on deck here at Wantable. In just a few hours, we made the pivot from personal styling service to serving our local (and national) community. By joining our facilities with individuals looking to lend a hand, we have an opportunity to make an impact.

We’re crowdsourcing at-home army of sewing volunteers to create and donate face masks. You don’t have to leave the house—we’ll email you with instructions and a prepaid return label. Once your masks are made, drop them in a box or bag, attach your printed prepaid return label, and schedule a free USPS pick-up. Then, pat yourself on the back—your face masks are going to a good cause.

If you can sew, we’d love any who are able to join us in our efforts to give back to those who are sacrificing so much. Thank you for your help fighting the spread of COVID-19 by making and donating face masks to those in need. We truly believe that we are our strongest when we pull together.

To join our crew and find out more about how you can help, head here. You—and your seriously amazing sewing skills—are beyond appreciated.

Boxing Workout: Breaking Down the Terms & Covering the Basics

Looking for a fun new workout to try at home? Give boxing a go. Boxing was one of the first group exercise classes I ever had the pleasure of teaching and it will forever be a favorite. It makes you feel so powerful and it’s such a fun way to get in cardio and strength training. Since many of us will be at home a lot more, I wanted to share some boxing workouts with you that you can stream. First, I’ll cover some basics to help you get started. Below I’m sharing each move by their kickboxing name and traditional boxing name.  You can follow along with either depending on what you’re most comfortable with.

boxing workout: stance

Stance

Fighting Stance

Stand with one leg slightly in front of the other about hip-distance apart. Place your hands in fists near your face. Ta-da! You’ve nailed it. This is how you will stand whenever you are not actively moving. It is intended to ensure you are always ready and your face is always protected.

boxing workout: punches

Punches

Jab or One

Punch your left arm forward while keeping your wrist pointed down. It’s important to make sure that your elbow does not get locked out.

Cross or Two

Punch your right hand forward with your thumb pointed down. During this move, your back foot pivots.

Hook or Three

A hook is a punch across the body with your elbows at a 90-degree angle.

Uppercut or Four

An uppercut is a punch that comes from your belly button with your palms facing up and wrists closed (towards an opponent’s stomach).

Bob and Weave or Slip Slip

With a slight bend at the waist, move your torso in a ‘U’ shape to the right, then the left. Make sure to keep your hips still.

boxing workout: kicks

Kicks*

Front Kick

From a relaxed fighting stance, bring your left knee up and thrust hips (this is where your power comes from). Be sure to keep the foot underneath your knee. Snap the foot forward and bring the knee back to a bend, then return to fighting stance.

Roundhouse

From a relaxed fighting stance with your right leg back, bring your left knee up, pivot your standing foot, snap out the right leg, then bring your knee back in then back to your resting stance.

*note: there is no traditional boxing alternative for kicks.

boxing workout: online workouts

Time to get sweating!

The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 2}

First of all, before we get started on Step 2 of the Level Up Formula, let’s address the elephant in the room:

This Coronavirus pandemic is like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my 39 years on this planet. I feel like the world took a bottle full of crazy, and we’re all forced to go along for the ride!

But sincerely, I hope everyone is staying safe out there. I’m keeping all of you and your families in my thoughts/prayers during this troubling time.

Image

In this time of uncertainty (and fear and panic), I am choosing to LEVEL UP on all fronts.

For me, this is a time to:

1. Be a good citizen by keeping my butt inside the house!

2. Continue to work on myself by filling my quarantine time with reading, cooking, creativity, and productivity.

3. Get dressed every morning – even when the collective mood is somber.

4. Laugh often (the memes coming out of this are hysterical).

5. Provide entertainment and education for all of YOU who are also stuck inside.

If you aren’t already, please follow me on Instagram/ IGTV because I’m posting videos pretty much EVERY DAY during this quarantine to keep you entertained.

Today’s video is continuing what we started last week: The Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series.

Image

>> WATCH NOW <<

In Step 2, we are mentally preparing ourselves for the WORK that will be involved in making a change to our internal and external lives. This goes beyond just deciding to do something (we make BS decisions all the time), this is about committing yourself!

So take a look at today’s video and leave a comment if you’re committed to leveling up.

The Level Up Formula Style Series {Part 1}

Do you know what time it is?

It’s time for a brand new Style Series!

Welcome to the Level Up Formula 5-Part Style Series.

Over the next five weeks, I’m going to share with you the five things you need to know to level up your style and, as a result, your life!

Because what you wear is a physical manifestation of what’s going on inside.

Image

Today’s episode is devoted to Step 1: Making a Decision.

Have you ever looked in the mirror (or your closet) and didn’t like what you saw?

It happens to all of us, heck it recently happened to me. Nothing in my closet was inspiring me, and I felt an overwhelming urge to get rid of everything.

What you might not know is that “WTF moment” is the precursor to the first step of the Level Up Formula.

That moment is your window of opportunity for profound change; the question is, are you going to walk away or step through?

Most people walk away and CHOOSE to stay stuck. Stuck in the same tired outfits, at the same tired job, and feeling the same tired feelings. So many people choose mediocre over living up to their full potential.

But that’s not us!

Image

>> WATCH NOW<<

There is a reason you didn’t like what you saw; its because you KNOW you’re capable of more.

Ready for the first step? Here it is:

Just say, “ENOUGH! I want different.”

You don’t know how to change (yet), but you’re 100% not here for staying the same.

My challenge to you is for you to decide.

Are you going throw in the towel and accept whatever is staring back at you?

OR

Are you going to decide to do something different?

Drop your “ENOUGH” moment in the video comments, and let’s make a declaration to do differently!

The 7 Must-Have Essentials to Have in Your Gym Bag

While sitting in the salon chair this weekend, I came across an InStyle article where celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson was sharing her favorite sweat-proof cosmetics for the gym. If like me, you often skip makeup before your sweat sessions, you might be as apprehensive as I was. Nonetheless, I’m a bit of a product junkie so I read on. “Many women don’t realize that so much of your calorie burn is attached to your adrenaline, which is attached to how you feel about yourself,” she says. “So if you look at your workout like a performance and put a little effort into getting ready, you’ll actually do better.” Whether you’re up for applying makeup before the gym or not, there’s good news: it’s time to go shopping in an effort to feel your best (and burn more calories) at the gym! Here is my fail-proof list of must-haves items to keep on hand in your gym bag. They’ll ensure you have an effective workout and will leave you feelin’ your absolute best.

gym bag essentials: high-waisted leggings

1. A Reusable Water Bottle

Don’t forget to stay hydrated! If you haven’t broken up with single-use plastic bottles for your h2O yet, make this your year. I can go on and on about how it’s bad for the environment and bad for your body (no thank you, BPA) but I’ll just leave these super stylish water bottles right here for you. They’ll either convince you to jump on the reusable train or enhance your existing collection so you can feel great about doing what’s right for the planet.

2. A Silk or Satin Scrunchie

It goes without saying many of us take our blowouts very seriously and for good reason: ain’t nobody got time for that! Prolong your blowout during workouts with a silk or satin scrunchie. They help preserve your hair by leaving behind zero creases and they have the added benefit of looking super-cute on your wrist.

gym bag essentials: silk scrunchie

3. A Fitness Tracking Watch

Not only can you use some fitness tracking watches for music and phone calls (yay, no phone needed), but they can also be super motivating and help you track your progress. I wear mine so much that I feel naked without it! Here are the best fitness tracking watches for 2020.

4. Sunscreen

Sunscreen is great to put on daily, but it’s definitely a must-have if you plan on taking your workout outdoors. Anything SPF 30 or above will do, but I love one that provides moisturization and other skincare benefits whenever possible. Lately, I’ve been loving this SPF 50 formula that helps combat the appearance of skin aging while it delivers sun protection.

gym bag essentials: pullover

5. A Pullover

No matter the time of year, I love a good pullover to have on hand for layering. They help to keep me warm before and after a workout. Extra points if they have thumbholes like this one that came to be in my lastest Wantable Edit!

6. High-Waisted Leggings

I just discovered a new (to me) brand Jade + Jude that makes the best sustainable activewear. These leggings came in my last Wantable Fitness Edit and I have been wearing them on repeat. They use a water-free dyeing technique that helps in reducing pollution and saving water and all pieces are made in the U.S. They are also inclusive of all body types which I love!

7. Dry Shampoo

In the aforementioned article, Anderson recommends OGX Active Beauty Green Tea Fitness Dry Shampoo Foam. I think any dry shampoo that meets your quality standards will do the trick, just follow this tip my hairstylist gave me: apply dry shampoo BEFORE your workout to keep sweat from ever reaching your strands. Apply again after for optimal freshness.

The Best Spring Break Outfits for Every Kind of Destination

There’s a good chance we’ve officially made it through the thick of winter  (fingers crossed) and—therefore—it’s time to celebrate! That’s right. It’s time for spring break. Whether you’re enjoying a low-key vacay, adventure-packed trip or enjoying some time off at home, we’ve got you covered with the best spring break outfits.

spring break outfits: west coast

California Dreamin’

California style is all about easy and effortless outfits with an on-trend flair. You can’t go wrong with skinnies and a strappy tank to nail that laid-back vibe. With all of the sun you’ll be soaking in, you’ll definitely need a wide-brimmed hat that’s both UV-protecting and super stylish.

Must-See Stop: Anything and everything in Palm Springs. From nearby canyons and deserts to glamorous pools and spas, this hot spot has plenty to do for everybody.

spring break outfits: east coast

East Coast

Chic and ever-so-classic, the east coast is all about the pieces that never go out of style. To pass off that, “Oh, this? I just threw it together” kind of outfit, start with a striped knit and pair it with an eyelet a-line skirt. It also doesn’t hurt to finish your look with a bouquet of flowers and a bit of bubbly, either. 😉

Must-See Stop: Enjoy a Hilton Head hideaway. It’s been rated as a quiet spring break destination making it perfect for mid-afternoon strolls and leisurely sunset dinners.

spring break outfits: tropical getaway

Fun in the Sun

Yes, girl. Hit up the beach, turn everything on airplane mode and live your best life. For your warm-weather escape, pack comfortable and colorful chinos to pair with a palm print tank. Complete your outfit with an ice-cold beverage and a nice coat of sunscreen. Need a couple more outfit ideas? We got you. Check out these on-trend vacation outfits perfect for a tropical getaway.

Must-See Stop: 100% Cabo. Indulge at an all-inclusive resort, soak in all of the iconic scenery and enjoy every moment in this surreal spot.

spring break outfits: national parks

A.M. to P.M. Adventure

If you’re seeking adventure, grab a map and set out for a National Park. As nature revives and warmer temperatures replace cool weather, spring can be the best time to visit one. Sport comfortable Bermuda shorts with a breathable button-up and sun-blocking baseball cap. The last thing you need to worry about is carrying a bag, so opt for a hands-free (and on-trend!) belt bag.

Must-See Stop: Capitol Reef National Park in Utah is an underrated yet totally epic destination. Go on a hike and enjoy the seclusion or take a break from the heat and take a road trip down breathtaking Highway 12.

spring break outfits: city

Staycation Station

Not traveling for spring break? We feel that. A staycation is an amazing way to spend your much-deserved days off. A pair of crisp white denim is the perfect foundation for a springtime outfit. Throw on a floral blouse and classic denim jacket and you’re set to head out the door. Just don’t forget to grab your cup of coffee!

Must-See Stop: Well, this is totally up to you! Be a tourist in your own town. Discover under-the-radar spots or hit up your go-to’s. It’s your staycation—do as much or as little as you’d like.
