No.2 toilet paper is a thing and here's why you might want to try it

The 6 Stages of Style Sabotage

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this one before, but it’s worth repeating:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

That’s not the actual definition of insanity, but you’ve gotta admit it makes a lot of sense. Yet we still repeat unsuccessful behaviors and wonder why they don’t work.

We do it in relationships by dating the same “type” only to scratch our heads when we haven’t found “the one.”

We do it with our bodies by eating junk food, and then are perplexed when our jeans don’t fit.

We do it with our style by participating in what I call the ‘6 Stages of Style Sabotage’, and wonder why we have “nothing to wear.”

Your system is broken, friend! Those old behaviors are begging to be retired.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Screaming, “I have nothing to wear” into a closet full of clothes.
  • Getting rid of everything you own during a closet “cleanse.”
  • Creating a Pinterest board full of outfits, you’ll never find the courage to wear.
  • Chasing that “new clothes high” by buying clothes you can’t afford.
  • Waiting for the perfect occasion to wear your new clothes while continuing to rock your old standbys.
  • Returning to that state of “I have nothing to wear” despair – but now you’re broke and sad.
  • What a waste of time, energy, emotions, and money! , it’s time to do things differently.

You need a PROVEN step-by-step system that is guaranteed to improve your style and change the way you approach getting dressed.

Lucky for you, I created the system.

No more crying in front of your closet.

No more not feeling like “you” in your clothes.

No more wasted money on unworn garments.

Fun Winter Activities to Help You Get Out of the House

You’ve heard it before—the best way to keep seeing results from your workouts is to mix it up. Sure, ‘mixing it up’ in the middle of winter can be a glass of wine by the fireplace (what a good tricep stretch, right?) but a fantastic workout might be easier to squeeze in than you think. Here are some activities to help you get out of the house (and even burn a few calories) this winter.

winter activities: skiing and sledding

Go Sledding, Ice Skating or Cross Country Skiing

If this isn’t already a winter tradition, it needs to become one. I mean, I live in LA and I’ve managed to make 2 of them happen this year! You may not think of sledding as a workout, but all that trudging up and down a hill in the snow can actually burn around 400 to 600 calories per hour. Each of these activities is super fun with family, friends, or your significant other.

Hot Yoga or Snow-ga

Who doesn’t love a good hot yoga class in the winter? It’s warm and cozy and gives you a break from the cooler temps outside. If you want to try something new (and very ‘gram-worthy), opt for snowga (check out #snowga for inspo). It’s a great way to soak up some vitamin D and enjoy the scenery around you. Not to mention, if you are going skiing or snowboarding, this serves as a great warm-up before you hit the slopes.

winter activities: take a hike

Take a Hike or Go On a Trail Run

If the sun happens to peek through, grab your hiking or trail running shoes and head out on an adventure. Be sure to dress for warmth and dryness if you live in a cold, wet climate. Moisture-wicking and water-repelling fabric can be critical to staying warm. If this is something that you do in your normal workout routine, try to switch up your route to keep things fresh and exciting.

Plant a Garden

Find space near you—in your yard or in a community garden—and plant some winter fruits and vegetables. Gardening can actually burn 200-400 calories per hour so you can really work up an appetite while you harvest some yummy and truly local veggies for your next winter soup.

How to Unwind: 3 Smart Ways to Reduce Stress & Take It Easy

Let’s face it—we live in a world full of stress. From continually feeling the pressure to pack our days with work, errands, chores, and somehow squeezing time for a personal life, the concept of taking it easy seems easier said than done. But—in case anyone hasn’t told you—you are so deserving of taking a moment (or a million) to unwind and we’re here to help you do it. Here are 3 smart ways to reduce stress and take it easy.

take it easy: blue joggers

joggers | bra

1. Forgo the FOMO

Yup, that’s right. Ditch the fear of missing out and embrace JOMO—the joy of missing out. Consciously trade the self-doubt for self-care and throw on some comfy clothes (um, have you seen the fantastic joggers above?) and be content with a night in. There are always going to be things going on, and it’s totally okay to take a night off from the bustling world.

take it easy: camo joggers

joggers | sweatshirt | tank

2. Do Nothing

At first, this might seem really hard. The important thing is to forfeit the idea that doing nothing equates to laziness. So not true. Grab a cozy outfit (this post is full of inspo), completely unplug and take it easy. Doing this regularly does wonders for your mental, emotional, and physical health. When is the right time to do nothing? Pay attention to your stress signals. You’ll know best when you need it the most.

take it easy: black joggers

joggers | hoodie

3. Get Rid of Guilt

Set aside that to-do list, use that PTO you’ve been saving up for a vacay, or take a “me” day. We’re so used to always working or being on-the-go that when you take some time to yourself, it might be hard to relax at first. We—as, you know, humans—need breaks, and there’s no need to feel guilty for taking them. So snag your favorite athleisure, set aside that laptop, hide your phone, and kick back and relax you superstar, you.

Shopping Smarter: How To Curate A Winning Wardrobe

Shopping: some people love it, and some people hate it.

Growing up, I hated shopping, but somewhere down the line, I learned to love it. But even when I loved it, it didn’t mean I was doing it right.

When I was in my mid-twenties, shopping was my primary source of entertainment. I shopped every single weekend and made a purchase at every stop. My wardrobe was bursting at the seams, and my closet could barely contain my wardrobe – sounds glamorous, but it was a freaking mess.

I was 20k in debt, and my wardrobe didn’t function. Meaning I’d wear something once, and then it was destined to die a dusty-death inside my closet.

After some soul searching and growing up, I discovered that I had to shop smarter. The debt was crippling, and I was addicted to buying new clothes.

The mistake I was making was having NO PLAN when it came to shopping. That’s the theme of all of these common styling problems — no plan and letting your emotions run the show.

The next time you’re out shopping, I want you to ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you buying just for the sake of buying?
  • Does money burn a hole in your pocket?
  • Are you bored?
  • Are you trying filling a void?

To stop the shopping madness, you need to set a clear intention around your new wardrobe, which plays right into your shopping strategy.

When you get clear on your vision and make a solid shopping game plan – shopping becomes a BREEZE! You’ll know which stores to go to and what to look for.

My clients have saved SO much money after learning my shopping strategies, and quite a few of them have pulled themselves out of debt as a result.

Learn how to shop smarter inside Personal Style University 2.0. Launches January 29th, 2020.

Strategies & Secrets For A Successful Closet Cleanse

Cleaning out our closets is something we all do, and it’s 100% necessary.

Could you imagine if you kept every single garment you’ve ever owned? It would be cute to look at the kids’ clothes from back in the day, but just thinking about the clothes I wore in my 20s makes me want to vomit.

The moral of the story, cleaning out your closet is good! So I’m not about to tell you NOT to clean out your closet, but I am going to tell you to stop doing it the way you’ve been doing it.

It’s time to start cleaning out your closet the right way. That means cleaning out your closet without getting rid of everything you own. Or for some of you, without chickening out by getting rid of like two things.

Here is how you know if you’re doing it wrong:

  • You end up with 500 trash bags full of stuff, which means you’re shopping too much or you’re not cleaning often enough.
  • You experience extreme emotions – either too much of a get shit done feeling or a sad, depressed feeling.

If you’re doing it right, you should:

  • Feel a balanced sense of accomplishment.
  • Learn something about yourself and your style.
  • Feel like this is a jumping-off place for growth and evolution.

The secret to successfully cleaning your closet includes:

  • Prework (I have a special worksheet inside of Personal Style University)
  • A clear vision
  • A plan
  • And reinforcements – a friend, a community, or a stylist!

So the question is: are you doing it right? And if you’re not, I will teach you exactly how inside Personal Style University.

Building A Wardrobe That You’ll Love Using Pinterest

I love Pinterest. It’s safe to say I’m addicted. It’s a much better way to pass the time than screwing around Instagram. Plus, it’s an incredible tool to help develop your style. I use it, and I teach my clients how to use it properly inside my course, Personal Style University.

BUT my guess is you’re not using Pinterest correctly at all!

I bet you’re just willy nilly pinning everything that captures your eye. You don’t have a strategy around what you’re pinning or why.

Pinning random styles that don’t fit into any one style type, outfits you don’t quite have the confidence to pull off, and things that don’t match your lifestyle or body type will take you further away from your goals.

This half-cocked Pinterest strategy causes style chaos, which is funny because the whole reason you started the board was to gain style clarity.

And I didn’t tell you the worst part!

The worst part is you’re going shopping based on that chaotic board. Let me tell  you something, you will end up back where you started – a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear.

To change this behavior, you need to get crystal clear on the vision for your style BEFORE you start collecting visuals on Pinterest.
You need to be so clear on your goals and who you are as a person.

Your Pinterest board should be created in your mind first, and then once you’re on Pinterest it’s just a matter of finding the images that match what’s in your head so your vision can become a reality

Are you clear on your style vision? I can help you get clear inside Personal Style University, which opens up on January 29th.

How To Know If It’s Time For a Style Refresh

It’s 2020, the New Year is here, and if you’re like the people on my Instagram feed (cleaning out their closets, shopping)- you’re probably feeling compelled to bust out the “new year new you.” The new decade feels they are upon us, and people want change, and they want it now.

So what’s the problem?

The problem is you’re letting your emotions and an invisible to-do list drive forward your actions WITHOUT a proper game plan or solid intentions in place. Most people attack their style problems in this manner, and unfortunately, this is the gateway to everything going wrong.

Here’s what happens:

  • You decide its time for a new you, which means (in your mind) its time to refresh your style.
  • You clean out your closet – only to regret getting rid of half of your stuff.
  • You create a Pinterest board with all of your dream outfits, but this dream has no ties to your actual dreams.
  • You shop because you gotta capitalize on those post-holiday sales.
  • You feel good for a second, but ultimately you waste time and money

So why does this vicious cycle keep happening?

It happens because you are allowing other people’s timing or a sense of urgency to dictate your experience.

You are going into the styling with a process without a plan or intention.

How do you know if it’s time for an upgrade? How do you know if you’re making a big mistake?

First, check your motives: Do you just want new stuff? Or are you ready to level up your style?

Here are a few good reasons to refresh your style:

  • New job
  • Lifestyle change – newly single, moved to a new city
  • Weight changes – loss or gain
  • New beginnings – like legit new beginnings, not “new year new me.”

If you need a style refresh, I can help! Personal Style University 2.0 opens up on January 29th and will take your look to the next level.

3 Casual Outfits You Can Throw Together in Seconds

You are a lady boss. You’re juggling your social life, work life, and an endless list of errands,  while somehow keeping it together. Yes, queen—you’ve got this. When you’re running on efficiency, having to take time to think about what you’re wearing for the day (and changing three times because you just can’t quite get the right outfit) can be a real drab. That’s why I’ve created a list of 3 outfits that you can throw together in seconds! Next time you’re running out the door, keep these casual time-saving outfits in mind.

casual outfits: quilted jacket

casual outfits: pullover sweatshirt

casual outfits: straight leg denim

1. Quilted Comfort

Casual meets comfort in this super easy ensemble. A simple crew neck sweatshirt with light-colored denim is an easy pairing. Layering a quilted jacket on top adds some extra texture while the straight-leg denim brings an on-trend element.

casual outfits: moto jacket

casual outfits: snakeskin blouse

casual outfits: black denim

2. Luxe and Leather

If you’re going for casual glam, wearing a leather jacket is an easy way to add instant luxe vibes to your outfit. Layer it over a dark animal print top and black denim for a fail-proof outfit formula. And—voilà!—you’ve got yourself the perfect not-too-dressed-up-but-not-too-casual vibe.

casual outfits: cozy cardigan

casual outfits: white t-shirt

casual outfits: floral denim

3. Pops of Print

Take a new spin on patterns by wearing them on your pants instead of your top. I love this floral denim for a feminine twist to classic jeans. Any time you’re wearing patterns, wear them with solid complimentary colors. Wearing solid white on white layers with the patterned denim is a great way to throw together an easy outfit while preventing the outfit from looking too busy.

EveryWEAR: Athleisure Wear for Every Aspect of Your Life

Everyone knows the feeling. Waking up in the morning with a million things on your agenda and no desire to find separate outfits for each of those activities. Thankfully, athleisure wear has become an integral part of women’s wardrobes across the globe. The best part? The trend is not just for workouts. Athleisure breaks down the barriers of traditional workout wear and street style and combines the two resulting in trend-savvy, real-life outfits. It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling, running errands, or just grabbing a cup of coffee, these elevated, easy-to-wear outfits are everything you need to help you get through the day—and the year ahead.

athleisure wear: joggers

Rise & Grind

We are just going to say it—these joggers are everything. Their sleek and tailored design practically makes them essential for starting out your athleisure wardrobe. Pair them with a muscle tank to tackle a busy morning. Once you’ve crossed everything off of your to-do list, throw on a tee—either plain or with a graphic—and layer it under a moto jacket. Boom. You’ve just nailed a seriously stylish athleisure look.

athleisure wear: hoodie

Hit the Pause Button

There’s no denying that athleisure is ideal when you’re running from your workout to wherever. But it’s also designed for your off-duty days, too. Take a moment and slow down in comfortable leggings and a cozy sweatshirt. Pick up a book you’ve been meaning to read and head to your local coffee shop. Or, kick back on the couch and have a guilt-free binge session. You’ve earned it!

athleisure wear: graphic sweatshirt

Just Roll With It

We totally get that the day-to-day—okay, life in general—is pretty unexpected. You need pieces that move with you no matter what surprises are thrown your way. Opt for relaxed, non-restricting silhouettes like this smile-inducing sweatshirt. With its cheerful mantra, it provides a dose of happiness both to you and those around you. You never know whose day you might impact just by spreading a little love.

5 Benefits of Taking the Risk to Try Something New

When thinking of trying something new like launching a side hustle or starting a new fitness program, I’ll be the first to admit that feelings of fear can creep in. All too often we let the fear of the unknown stop us from starting things that we really want to tackle when it’s actually pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones that help us grow. Example: A young woman who is new to working out was nervous about taking a spin class at a swanky gym in San Francisco. She’s never been on a stationary bike and feels nervous she might not be in good enough shape. She’s brave and she goes anyway. She started going every week and eventually bonded with the instructor. They’re married now and have two kids and a dog. (We actually know this woman.) Sure, it’s intimidating to try something new, but can you imagine if she never tried? Moral of the story: risk something or forever be the same. The benefits of trying new things are abundant. Here are some benefits of taking the risk to try something new this year.

try something new: comfort zone

1. Trying something new that shakes up your routine can really give you a fresh perspective.

2. New ways of doing things can enhance experiences that already bring you joy. Love to run? Try the same route but backward to stimulate your brain and shake things up!

3. Increased creativity often comes from trying something new. When I feel stuck on a piece I am writing, I put my phone away and look around—the trees, dogs passing by and new people on the street help me feel more alive and creative.

try something new: switch things up

4. New physical activities can aid you in becoming healthier. Try a boxing class or something else you’ve been thinking about. The calorie burn and endorphins alone will make it worth it!

5. You could make new friends! Head out on a yoga retreat or go to that festival you’ve never made time for. Who knows what kind of memories you will make with new people!

try something new: make new friends

The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to trying something new, and whether it’s a big or small leap outside your comfort zone, you’ll still reap the benefits of trying new things. Get out there and do that thing you’ve been thinking about!

5 Must-Have Resort Wear Pieces Perfect for Your Next Getaway

If you’re finally getting a chance to exhale after all the holiday madness, you might feel like now—more than ever—is the perfect time for a getaway. We have to admit, we totally agree. Whether your trip is planned to a ‘T’ or you’re still working out the details, our all-new Resort Wear has the pieces you need to perfectly pack your bags for your next vacay.

resort wear: floral blouse

1. Breezy Blouse

A breezy blouse is a super convenient piece to have on hand. Not only is the palm print extremely fitting for your warm-weather escape, but it’s also an easy piece to dress up or down. Pair it with shorts, skirts, or denim to create a multitude of looks. Versatility is key when selecting the items that get to take the trip with you—the other pieces in your closet will forgive you, we promise.

resort wear: chino short

2. Chino Shorts

A chino short is a fail-proof piece to pack if your vacation is a combination of adventure and relaxation. They err on the sophisticated side, so you’ll look put-together—and feel incredibly comfortable—as you take on a day of sightseeing. Complete the ensemble with a hands-free crossbody bag and lightweight knit.

resort wear: kimono

3. Breezy Kimono

From poolside to a seaside dinner, a breezy kimono is a must for any tropical getaway. Layer it over your swimsuit while you’re soaking in the sun (with a bunch of previously applied SPF, of course) or over a casual dress. Throw on a wide-brimmed straw sun hat for the finishing touch. Worried it’ll take up too much space? Nope. This one rolls up into a packable size that will fit even in your carry-on.

resort wear: knit dress

4. Knit Dress

This striped knit dress is the perfect throw-on-and-go piece. With a classic striped print and breezy silhouette, it will work for all of your vacay plans—or zero plans at all. Added bonus? It packs really well and won’t take up valuable space in your suitcase. Slip this on with a sneaker if you’re exploring or a heeled sandal for a fun night out.

resort wear: white denim

5. White Denim

Even if you’re heading to a warmer destination, the weather still may be a bit iffy this time of year. One way to keep your vacay outfits looking fresh (no matter the forecast) is white denim. Much like your classic indigo jeans, these will pair with anything and everything you have packed.

The Top Fashion Trends of 2020 According to Our Stylists

Happy New Year! A new decade has begun and that means a new era of fashion trends is looming. Curious about what’s going to be big this year? Let’s turn to Wantable’s in-house fashion experts to reveal the big styles. Check out the top fashion trends of 2020 according to Wantable’s stylists.

2020 fashion trends: animal print

1. Animal Print

The ongoing animal print trend encompasses everything from snake and zebra to leopard and croc. Expect animal print to be fashion’s new neutral this year. Stay ahead of the game as Queen of the Jungle by keeping your statement animal print pieces in hand and investing in some more diverse prints to mix and match outfits.

2020 fashion trends: pleats

2. All of the Pleats

This luxe-looking trend will keep all of your outfits looking fresh and put-together. You’ll see pleats in twirl-worthy skirts, dresses, and even pants and tops. Reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe’s signature white pleated dress blowing up over a subway grate in the 1950s, this style is both classic and flirty—and it’s here to stay.

2020 fashion trends: color block

3. Colorblock Details

Simple, yet statement-worthy, color block details elevate any simple outfit. Don’t be surprised to see unlikely color block color combinations in 2020. Pastels are mixed with neons and primary colors for unexpected combos that make for a trendy ensemble.

2020 fashion trends: cargo pants

4. Cargo Pants

All things utility have been trending for the last couple of years, and cargo pants are most certainly part of that trend. Some days, you’ll want to put aside your denim for cargo pants, which give off a casual cool-girl vibe, while also being quite comfortable (and stretchy). The versatility of the utility trend makes cargo pants an easy staple to add to your wardrobe.

2020 fashion trends: quilted jackets

5. Quilted Jackets

How excited are you for a fashion trend that allows you to look cute in winter while actually staying warm? Quilted jackets are both in-style and insulated—proving that cozy & cute is totally achievable. The quilted texture takes any coat to the next level in style and will certainly be a must-have trend this year.
